*This ride will only take place in good weather. In the event of cancellation, we will refund CHF 45.00 of the entry fee and retain only CHF 10.00 for expenses already incurred. The decision if the event will take place is made four days before the event.

We recommend travelling by car to the top of the Gotthard Pass. Once you have arrived at the finish, your car is already nearby and you don’t have to make a descent.

Travelling to the Gotthard Pass

Southside: From Airolo via the Gotthard highway approx. 20 minutes to the top of the Gotthard Pass.

Northside: From Andermatt via Hospental and Gotthard pass road approx. 20 minutes to Gotthard pass summit.

Car parks around the Gotthard Hospiz (Google Maps Link). From the top of the Gotthard Pass it takes 20 minutes by bike to the start in Airolo (take the normal road, not the Tremola).

Travelling by public transport to the top of the pass is not possible!

Arrival via Airolo

By car: Take the A2 highway to the Airolo exit. There are plenty of parking spaces available at the Airolo-Pesciüm cable car station (Google Maps Link).

By public transport: Take the train (InterRegio 26 or 46) to Airolo. Don’t forget to buy a ticket for your bike.

Arrival via Andermatt

By car: Take the A2 highway to the Göschenen exit. Then in approx. 15 minutes via Schöllenen to Andermatt. Parking spaces are available in Andermatt Mitte (Google Maps Link).

By public transport: Take the train (InterRegio 26 or 46) to Göschenen. Then take the approx. 10 minutes ride with the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Andermatt. Don’t forget to buy a ticket for your bike.

From Andermatt, cycle along the Gotthard Pass road for approx. 90 minutes to Airolo. Follow cycle path no. 3.

For all participants who have to cycle back to Airolo or Andermatt, we offer an escort service.

  • 1st departure direction north & south incl. moto marshal: 10.15 pm
  • 2nd departure direction north & south incl. moto marshal: 10.45 pm

These departures are each led by a motorbike. This moto marshal should not be overtaken and will accompany you safely into the valley.

Info for public transport travellers
A return journey by public transport on Saturday from Airolo and Andermatt is no longer possible.
